Side note: Tenth of May album release
May 10th
Some Pick a Piper-related news: My other project, Tenth of May has a new album out today (coincidence?) and it’s the best yet. Check out the Sun Gate LP at www.mayten.net where you can stream or download it for free or pay what you want. It’s also available on iTunes here for a reasonable price. It’s a solid mix of folk, rock, a hint of shoegaze and plain old unclassifiable styles. Influences include AC Newman, Fleet Foxes, CCR, My Bloody Valentine, Elevator and Water (not a band). Mike Smith, who mastered the Pick a Piper EP also helped with mixing and mastering More >

What an amazing time we’ve had on our stint in Newfoundland. Last night’s show really topped things off after we made it out to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America.
Many thanks to the 65 Prescott st folks for the great hospitality plus their and Rozalind’s extra support and musical contributions.
We’re on our way back for the overnight ferry, and we’ve picked up another Sydney NS show for tomorrow night (Monday) at Maxwell’s Lounge.
Our first tour is almost over! Two more shows to go and we’ll have to say goodbye to our friends Ace Kinkaid as More >
The Aztek is no more

15 minutes short of Sydney, NS our tour vehicle overheated and blew white smoke. Head gasket blew. Thousands to rebuild, so it looks like we’re dumping it here in Sydney. Luckily this happened when we have a day off to figure out a solution. We’re renting a van for our Nfld leg, but renting something to drve back to Ontario looks to be a challenge. Wish us luck!
Here’s a little Yellowknife jam we did right before the breakdown.

New Site!

No more forwarding to Myspace for us. The future is now, and it looks like 1998! Our EP is available for download on the “Music” page, and there are videos galore in the aptly-named “Videos” page.
Look forward to mobile updates with pictures during our tour of eastern provinces with Ace Kinkaid (see tour dates in the sidebar) so keep an eye out! Here’s an awesome poster we’re using for the tour, featuring amazing artwork by AK’s Liam Epps that we’ve also been able to use for some merch. See you on the road!
